My first guitar build - a James Hetfield Tribute guitar - built in my garage!

I’m a woodworker, and a relatively crummy self-taught guitar player. I’m also a huge Metallica fan. I have always wanted to make a guitar. So should I buy a kit, or do a Strat?

Of course not - I chose a really difficult first build. I have always like the explorer style guitars James played in the early days, and loved the natural wood of his Ken Lawrence guitars. So I decided to make a James Hetfield tribute explorer. I made a lot of mistakes, but I also learned a lot, and wound up building something pretty cool. I hope you enjoy watching!
